Evergreen Meadows Residents:
In case you did not receive the flyer on your door, tonight is National Night Out at the community pool parking lot from 8PM to 10PM. Food, prizes, etc will be provided by the Leesburg Police Department. This is a way to meet those that serve our neighborhood and sort of a celebration that we are the first community in the town of Leesburg to get enough participation to have a Community Watch program.
See you there!

Neighbors,
Officer Richard Thomas of Leesburg PD (703-771-4572 or 571-221-9016 email: rthomas@leesburgva.gov) stopped by my house this morning (7/28) to let me know that several cars in our neighborhood had been vandalized last night. Cars on Roy and Claude Ct. were opened and had things stolen including a wallet which was taken on Claude Ct. and later located on Roy Ct. A car had a rock thrown threw the window on Claude as well. Other cars had items removed as well. Please contact Officer Thomas if you notice any items missing or damage to your vehicle.
The officer saw my truck door was not fully shut and had me check to make sure nothing was taken. At first glance I thought I just did not close it all the way but with closer inspection it did appear that someone attempted to remove my GPS but was unable to get it out of the cradle. I will keep it inside from now on!
Please be alert, keep your cars and garages locked, your porch lights on and call Leesburg PD if you see something that is not just right. The non-emergency number is 703-771-4500 or call 911 in case of an emergency. Don't worry that it "might be nothing" and don't worry about "bothering the police". It is better to call and have it be nothing than not call and it was something!
Remember the Town of Leesburg has a midnight curfew for anyone under 18. If you see kids out and about after midnight pick up the phone and make the call.

To all who knew Fred Ricker and the Ricker family (previously of Evergreen Meadows- 129 Balch Springs Circle), I am sad to report that Fred was killed this week in an automobile accident near La Plata, NM (where the family had moved approximately two years ago).
Below is the newspaper article about Fred’s accident and the obituary.

A quick neighborhood walk, the first thing that becomes apparent is how many of our trees are stressed by the dry conditions. While brown grass will recover in few weeks or months, a stressed or dead tree will take years to recover or replace. And, trees are not cheap to replace. A few gallons of strategically placed water can make the difference.
Slow watering is best for young trees. A bucket with a small drilled hole or a watering bag with few gallons 2 or 3 times a week can make all the difference. While watering bags can cost $20 or more and drilling a hole in your favorite bucket seems like a waste of a bucket, there are alternatives. A hole drilled in bottom a empty bucket used to package kitty litter is great solution.
